Sometimes editing isn't the right thing to do. Sometimes you need the long form to understand the issue at hand. Sometimes you need insight that only more words, more time and more information can muster.
Our modern times are overwhelming us with information which is causing us to resist details, nuance and full exploration. We are constantly in a defensive position against too much stuff. This plays out by us skimming, ignoring or not picking up the newspaper at all (or worse still picking up a newspaper we invariably disagree with).
Read a novel. Open up a lengthy blog post. Devour a documentary.
Get the nuance. Get the details. Get all of the facts. Get the 360 degree perspective.
Resist the urge to edit, truncate and avoid the big picture.
